Jason King

Jason Andrew King was raised locally on the Sunshine Coast and commenced his dance training with Anne Fraser ARAD and Andrea Dalton ATOD. At the age of 13, he attended the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School in Melbourne.  After graduating, he was accepted into The Australian Ballet School to continue his tertiary studies.  At 19, Jason entered the professional dance world in which he began his career with The Victorian State Opera alongside Rhonda Burchmore.  He backed up international artists such as Kylie Minogue, Danni Minogue, Vanessa Amorossi, Caroline O’Connor, Diana Ross, and Cyndi Lauper.  Jason held the Choreographic Advisory position in Toho Gaino, Japans largest film, stage and entertainment company. He travelled and worked throughout Europe as a freelance dancer and choreographer, whilst also performing extensively with Princess Cruise Lines throughout the United States of America. Back home Jason performed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics as well as numerous TV productions, music videos and commercials and accepted the role of ‘featured dancer’ in Baz Luhrmans box office smash hit film “Moulin Rouge.” Jason studied comprehensively for two years with The Royal Academy of Dance London, and now holds the coveted Registered Teacher Status.  He is also the President of The Sunshine Coast Dance Eisteddfod, the largest of its kind in all of Queensland.

Deborah Quinn

Deborah comes to us with 36 years experience in the entertainment profession. Starting at age 3, she has attained Honours in BDA and RAD Ballet, BDA Tap, BDA Jazz and Classical Singing. Prior to owning 3 Dance Schools herself in Sydney, Deborah wanted to expand her experience working nationally in the Club Circuit for Dianne Heaton Dancers and vocally backing Lucky Starr for 5 years. Her high-light has been working in production for and attending classes by David Atkins which led to her amazing passion for Tap!! Touring overseas for a year enabled Deborah to gather valuable skills in production work and adds to her already accomplished abilities. She says “Tap, is an opportunity to add percussion to the music. Not only do we get to express ourselves through music, with TAP we get to add to it, to change it, to make it your own. I love that”!

Paul Selwyn Norton

Paul Selwyn Norton (1964) autodidact, was born and raised in Africa and the West Indies and has been a professional Dancer, Choreographer and Teacher for the last 23 years. As a rather wild and untamed thing, he hunted and gathered all the way up to his eventual position in William Forsythe’s prestigious Ballet Frankfurt.
As a choreographer, he initially worked under the auspices of Dance House Korzo and after a series of successful productions, set up his own foundation ‘no apology’ in 2003, those works going to tour extensively in most of the major global dance festivals receiving many National and International prizes.
Commissions include Batsheva Dance Company, Frankfurt Ballet, Pretty/Ugly Dance Company, Galili Dance, Chunky Move and Stalker Theatre
Paul’s work with Duda Paiva Company has also seen a radical addition to his practice with a combination of puppetry, dance and live media.
While resident in Australia, Paul will also be the acting Pacific region programmer and curator for Korzo Theatre in The Hague, Holland.
His most recent 2011 Australian commissions include: Stalker Theatre “Encoded”, Expressions Dance Company “My Sweetest Choice” and Link “Moon/Hammer/Cycle”.
This is Paul’s first season with Fierce
